Hex Brass Ballpoint Pen β Solid Machined Barrel
The pen that ages with you.
Cut from a single piece of solid brass, this pen starts bright and slowly turns a deeper, warmer gold wherever your fingers sit. It is heavy enough to feel like a tool, takes the most common refill on earth, and will still be working in twenty years.
Why it earns a place on your desk
- Solid brass, machined not cast β 34 g of metal that balances behind the grip
- Hexagonal faceted barrel so it never rolls off a sloped desk
- Takes any Parker-style G2 refill; a black medium is installed and ready
- Raw brass develops a personal patina rather than wearing out
- Knurled twist mechanism with a firm, precise action β no wobble, no rattle
The details
One piece of metal. The barrel is machined from solid brass bar stock on a lathe, not cast or plated plastic. Hold it and the first thing you notice is the weight: 34 g, distributed so the pen sits behind your grip rather than over your fingers. That mass is what makes writing with it feel effortless β the pen does the work and your hand just steers.
Six flat faces. The barrel is cut hexagonal rather than round. In practice that means it will not roll off a sloped desk or out of a jacket pocket, and the flat facets give your thumb somewhere positive to sit. The edges are lightly broken so nothing digs in during a long writing session.
It changes, on purpose. Raw brass reacts with skin oils and air. Over weeks the high points brighten where they are handled and the recesses darken, and the pen settles into a deeper, warmer tone that is entirely yours. If you prefer it bright, a minute with a metal polish takes it back to the finish it arrived with β the choice is yours.
The refill question, settled. Inside is a Parker-style G2 refill, the most widely available ballpoint refill in the world. Ours is a black medium, smooth and quick-drying. When it runs out, any G2-compatible refill from any stationer fits β including gel and hybrid options if you want something different. Nothing here is proprietary and nothing is disposable.
A mechanism worth feeling. The knurled twist at the top advances and retracts the refill with a short, firm throw and a positive stop at both ends. There is no rattle when you write and no creep when it is clipped to a pocket. It is the sort of detail you only notice by its absence β which is exactly the point.

Good to know
Every kexvynβ’ piece is designed in-house and made in small runs, so materials vary slightly from batch to batch β grain in the oak, tone in the leather, patina on the brass. Those are the marks of real materials rather than defects, and they are why no two are identical.
