Concrete Pen Cup β Cork-Lined, Felt Base
Heavy enough to stay where you put it.
A pen cup fails in one of two ways: it is too light and slides every time you pull a pen out, or it is metal and rings like a bell. This one is cast concrete β heavy, quiet, with a cork-lined interior and a felt base that keeps your desk intact.
Why it earns a place on your desk
- Cast solid concrete with a fine, smooth hand-finished surface
- Natural cork lining inside β tools land softly and do not rattle
- Pressed wool felt pad on the base, so it never marks a desk
- Holds 8β10 pens and pencils upright, or a mix of brushes and rulers
- Weight keeps it planted: pull a pen out one-handed and the cup does not move
The details
Weight is the feature. This cup is cast from fine-aggregate concrete and weighs close to 700 g empty. That mass is what makes it work: you can pull a pen out with one hand, quickly, without the cup shifting or tipping. A plastic pot with three pens in it slides across the desk; this one does not.
Cork inside. The interior is lined with natural cork. Drop a pen in and it lands quietly instead of clacking against a hard wall, the metal clips and steel nibs you care about do not chip against stone, and the cork grips slightly so shorter items do not rattle around at the bottom.
Felt underneath. A pressed wool felt pad is bonded to the base. Concrete is harder than almost any desk surface, so this matters β you can slide the cup around without leaving a grey trail on oak, laminate or glass.
Sized for a real collection. At 85 Γ 85 Γ 100 mm the opening comfortably holds eight to ten pens and pencils with room to see what you are reaching for, and it is deep enough that brushes, rulers and scissors stand upright without tipping.
Every one is slightly different. Concrete is a poured material: small variations in tone, and the occasional pinhole or faint marbling at the surface, are inherent to how it is made rather than faults. Sealed against water and staining, it will look the same in five years.

Good to know
Every kexvynβ’ piece is designed in-house and made in small runs, so materials vary slightly from batch to batch β grain in the oak, tone in the leather, patina on the brass. Those are the marks of real materials rather than defects, and they are why no two are identical.
